’Tis the season of giving! The holidays are a time when, as a culture, we focus more on giving than receiving. While it’s always a good time to give to others, there are endless opportunities during this special time of year and many different ways to give. Whether you donate money or time, purchase gifts from an angel tree, or fill a shoebox that’s delivered to children in need, giving back is a way to make a lasting impact on others.
Let’s explore a few ways to give back while looking forward.
Serving Our Communities
I believe strongly in supporting the underserved in my community through giving to local organizations and charities. I also encourage my clients and others to take advantage of the opportunities to give during the holidays as well as all year long. If you live or work in the Colorado Springs area, two of my favorite organizations are Broadmoor Rotary Club and Catholic Charities of Central Colorado.
At the Broadmoor Rotary Club, we strive to build a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change. Our club believes in diversity, equity, and inclusion in all that we think, say, or do. We celebrate the contributions of people of all backgrounds, regardless of their age, ethnicity, race, color, abilities, religion, socioeconomic status, culture, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
I currently serve as the Board Chair of the Catholic Charities of Central Colorado, a non-profit that supports 10 counties in central Colorado through a wide range of services. Those in need in these communities can access over 60 different programs located at 4 facilities in Colorado Springs and Castle Rock. There are plenty of ways to get involved, from volunteering, donating financially, getting educated, or participating in events.
Generosity Is Always Worth It
Regardless of your financial circumstances, you can always find a way to give to others. The Apostle Paul said in Acts, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” If you have ever had the opportunity to generously give of your resources, you will understand the meaning behind this verse. Of course, there are tax benefits to giving financially, but the intangible benefits, such as the joy you feel when giving, are far greater. So, as this year draws to a close, we at Cobalt Private Wealth want to encourage you to cultivate an attitude of generosity by thinking of ways to pay it forward in the new year.
If you would like more information about our firm, our role in the community, or how we can help you build charitable giving into your financial plan, we’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to reach out to me at danielkorleski@cobaltprivatewealth.com or 719-332-3863 to schedule a meeting.
